The Chocolatier

This weekend I went down to visit family on Long Island. It just so happened that it was the weekend of the Sayville Summerfest. The Summerfest is an annual summer tradition of the town's where the community comes together throughout the weekend for some fun, food, and festival.

Among the festivities are: a carnival, concert, road race, art show, crafts fair, car show... the list goes on. It's truly a great time no matter your age. I've gone at least a dozen times in my life and always enjoy myself.

This year was no different.

I started my Saturday of Summerfest by running in the 5k road race. Followed by a coffee and a walk down and around Main Street - checking out the various festival tents. My favorite were the photography tents - full of photos capturing beach, garden, and nautical scenes.

From tent to tent, and store to store, I aimlessly walked and enjoyed the late morning sun. My feet eventually led me to one of my favorite Main Street spots - The Chocolatier.

The shoppe has been around for decades - offering high-quality chocolates and sweets for any day or occasion. Since I can remember, the Chocolatier has been the source for all my holiday goodies - whether it be Christmas stocking stuffers or Easter basket treats. It's also been the place to frequent when that chocolate craving comes a knocking.

Being that it is in New York, it is only when I come to visit that I get to stop in.

And so of course... I went in.

Upon entering, I was hit with that delicious and mouth-watering chocolate smell.
Yeah THAT smell - you know the one. Warm, rich, fudge-y, chocolate.

My stomach begged to me through grumbles... "can we pleeeease get something?"
My nose nodded knowingly... "you know you want to"
My eyes backed them up "oh yes, you've got to"
My head justified it all "you ran a race - you've earned it!"

I was sold.

Now it was down to the difficult part - what exactly should I get?
Fudge.Truffles Taffy. Milk chocolate-covered this. Dark-chocolate covered that. Jordan almonds. Gummy Bears. Caramels. Lollipops. The choices were endless.

I ended up getting a mix of chocolates: dark chocolate sea salt caramels, chocolate peanut butter cups, milk and dark chocolate nonpareils, and chocolate covered gummy bears.

It was all so tempting!

I definitely fell into chocolate this weekend.
