Barbie Bridal Shower

So my big sister, Cait, is getting married in one week. That's right ONE! After months of planning and preparing, I cannot believe her BIG day is just around the corner. Cait and Grant (her soon-to-be husband) have known each other since middle school, have dated since high school and have been engaged for a little over a year now. Safe to say that this July 4th wedding has been a long time coming. I'm so excited and so happy for them and know that their special day is going to be one to remember.

My sister has 5 bridesmaids - me (her maid of honor), Samantha (Grant's sister), Chelsea and Taylor (our cousins) and Julianne (Cait's best friend since elementary school). We have all been quite the busy little maids these past few weeks -- planning and hosting two bridal showers (one in NY and one in Boston due to the 50/50 split of where guests live) and her bachelorette weekend.

I'll post on each event individually - as they were too fun and there was so much going on to put all three in one post.

Her New York shower - if you can't tell by the pictures to follow - was Barbie themed. Perfect for Cait.

Because we had to travel to NY, this shower wasn't a surprise. Although her face seems to say otherwise.

The whole affair in one word... PINK!

You can never go wrong with a tu-tu table skirt. Or a Barbie & Ken in a  "Just Married" car...

Although showers are generally when you "shower" the bride-to-be with well wishes and gifts, we decided to make things a little more entertaining. With a shoe guessing game, bride and groom trivia, and a he said / she said - complete with prizes, of course.

After our fun and games, as well as a yummy lunch spread, it was down to business. Present opening. And you know what they say - for every ribbon you break, that counts for a child you'll have in your marriage!

I'm not sure how many ribbons were actually broken, but I know there were definitely a few!
Compliments of cousin Caroline, Cait had a lovely ribbon bouquet at the end of it all.

Here are Chelsea and Taylor - along with my Aunt Carrie (center)

And the real life Barbie and her Ken

Don't worry, don't worry. "Ken" and the rest of the guys only came at the end - to complete their manly "job"... ;)

It was a great afternoon - filled with family, friends, laughs, well wishes and lots and lots of pink.
The Barbie theme was so much fun to work with - although you can't tell from these pictures, we had framed Barbie pictures and sayings all throughout the party area. Here are a few of them:

Next post will be about the Boston shower - Breakfast at Tiffany's themed!

  1. Good to know about this Barbie themed bridal shower party. Recently, I arranged similar kind of bridal shower party for my cousin at one of finest wedding venues NYC. Invited all her friends and she enjoyed this party very much.
